We amplify the story of Matthew Shepard to inspire individuals, organizations, and communities to embrace the dignity and equality of all people. Through local, regional, and national outreach, we empower individuals to find their voice to create change and challenge communities to identify and address hate that lives without our schools, neighborhoods and homes.

Wesley United Methodist Church is a Reconciling Congregation. This means that we are a congregation that welcomes and encourages the full inclusion of all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The Reconciling Committee adopted the following mission statement: Wesley United Methodist Church is a Christian congregation seeking intentionally to welcome all persons regardless of sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, ethnicity, physical or mental capacity, education, socio-economic, or marital status. We believe that we are being reconciled to God and one another through Christ Jesus, the head of the Church. Therefore by God’s grace we will strive to welcome all persons into the membership and fellowship of our Church.
What began in the late 19th century during the first wave of Swedish immigrants to Worcester became First Swedish Evangelical Congregational Church in downtown Worcester Massachusetts in 1896, Salem Square Covenant Church in 1949, and Salem Covenant Church on E. Mountain St in 1968. And while our community has physically moved and lived through many times of change…
we see the hand of God as we continue to “move,” figuratively this time, to a time and future of clear and exciting recognition of the Holy Spirit’s movement in our church community, our neighbors, and the world.
